Hello! I’m Stacie Humpherys.

I’m the founder, illustrator, and chief mischief-maker at Pine & Feather Studio.

I was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Montana 🏔 and now I make my home in Idaho with my awesome husband and our two dogs, Oliver and Eva.

My inspiration comes from science and nature, especially the beauty of the Rockies and the Pacific Northwest.

I grew up surrounded by creativity — my mom is an expert sewist and my dad is constantly designing and creating amazing projects out of wood, fiberglass, and metal.

From a young age I was constantly drawing, painting, and exploring near our home on the Continental Divide in Montana.

When I'm not in the studio, you'll catch me outdoors—hiking, camping, and fishing. I'm a sucker for museums and planetariums, geeking out over astronomy and aviation history.

My art is all about sparking curiosity and kindness in kids through my nature-forward, illustrative storybook style. I'm on a mission to make STEM cool, especially for the little girls dreaming big.

Some fun facts about me

  • 🤓 I don't have a degree in the arts -- I'm an engineer by trade and worked in the semiconductor field for years before turning to illustrating full time as a self-taught artist. After leaving my corporate job, I started a stationery company and a gourmet food company before I finally settled on my first love — illustration. Engineering has given me a unique approach to creative problem solving.

  • 🛠 I am currently restoring a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville along with a 1964 Ideal camp trailer. Both belonged to my grandparents and ‘Bonnie’ pulled that trailer all around the country!

  • ✈️ I'm mad about airplanes! I'm currently developing a mobile app that teaches kids STEM concepts through the collection of vintage warplanes and artifacts at @warhawk.air.museum... coolest job ever! You can download the app for free and learn all about our cool airplanes with our Warhawk Junior Aviator game! Search "Warhawk Air Museum" in your App Store.
