Evergreen

This week’s theme: Winter / Today’s Daily Art Prompt: Evergreen / Medium: Watercolor / Daily Art Count: 13/100

I really enjoyed making a mini forest of loose watercolor evergreen trees today. I’m just really digging using only black watercolor paint. It just simplifies everything, and really helps me work on values without adding in the extra variable of hue.

Pupdate: Our new pup-pup is lots of work but also lots of fun. We decided to name him Oliver. Here’s the story: our current dog, Eva (pronounced “Ava”) was named after Eva Gabor, a Hungarian actress known for her role on the sitcom Green Acres that aired from 1965-1971. I grew up on a street with the same name, so I was well versed in that show’s theme song. For example, this was my life:

Person at DMV: “What’s your address?”

Me: “xxxx Green Acres Drive.”

Person at DMV: “Greeeeeen Acres is the place to be! Faaaarm livin’ is the life for me….”

Me: 😭 (then I start singing along)

So anyway, Eva Gabor played the character of Lisa, a total diva/socialite that is forced to move to a farm when her husband, Oliver Wendell Douglas (played by Eddie Albert) decides to leave city life behind. Hijinks ensue.

You can listen to the Green Acres theme song for yourself right here 😁

So, since we have an Eva, we decided this little guy could be named Oliver. He really does seem like an Oliver, too!
