Quilt

This week’s theme: Winter / Today’s Daily Art Prompt: Quilt / Medium: Watercolor / Daily Art Count: 11/100

I’ve always been fascinated with quilt block design. I’m no quilter though — I started a quilt back in 2003 (I’m ancient, ok?) and guess what — it’s stuffed in a drawer in pieces still. Maybe I’ll finish it one day? Anyway, my hat is off to anyone who can piece AND finish a quilt.

I have a book called the The Quilter’s Block Bible , and it is a handy dandy reference to different styles of quilt blocks. I was able to pick out a few and illustrate them for today’s prompt. They have the coolest names: Rail Fence, Nelson’s Victory, Barbara Fritchie Star, Trailing Star, Celia’s Pinwheel Square, Lady of the Lake. Want to know the stories behind the names? You can grab your own copy of this very cool book over at Amazon, if you are so inclined ☞.

Follow me as I work to make art every day, following the daily art prompts inside Bonnie Christine’s Flourish Membership. Each week has a theme with 7 prompt words within that theme. Flourish is a monthly membership for artists and designers, opening in May and October of each year. Want to learn more? Check it out at surfacepatterndesigners.com/flourish.
