Today, I wanted to share with you a DIY project idea that I think you will love: making a brother and sister matching outfit set with our Wild Autumn fabric.

It's the perfect way to create something special for your kids while also getting to use our new fall collection.

I want to give a shout-out to my talented mom, who made these adorable matching outfits for my sweet niece Sam and my awesome nephew, MJ! Sam is 9 months old and MJ is 4 — I can’t wait to see them wearing these!

Everything you need for this sweet matching brother + sister outfit

To make this outfit set, you will need two patterns from Etsy: a cute dress pattern with a matching hair bow for your daughter, and a button-down shirt with snaps for your son. Together, they use 3 yards of Forest Friends print (small scale) and 2 yards of Salmon Run (Extra Small scale) from our Wild Autumn collection.

The dress pattern is perfect for little girls and can be easily customized to your liking. You can choose to add a ruffle or leave it plain, and the matching hair bow is the perfect finishing touch and can be made with leftover fabric. The button-down yoke shirt pattern for boys is a classic design that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

When it comes to sewing with our Wild Autumn cotton poplin fabric, it's important to pre-wash it before you start because it will shrink a bit. Our Spoonflower fabric is high-quality and ethically sourced, so you can feel good about using it for your projects.

I can't wait to see how your matching outfit set turns out! If you have any questions or need help along the way, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always here to help. Thanks for being a part of our community and for supporting Pine + Feather Studio. Happy sewing!
