Festive Window

This week’s theme: Shopping / Today’s Daily Art Prompt: Festive Window / Medium: Watercolor / Daily Art Count: 24/100

Today, I asked Mom & Dad in our morning coffee call what I should paint for today’s prompt. Dad wanted a nativity scene and mom wanted a Christmas Wreath. I compromised by painting a deer family (a nod to the little family in the Nativity and just a tad simpler) and evergreen trees instead of a wreath. The deer were supposed to have little wreaths around their necks but I accidentally painted background over where they were supposed to be!

I enjoyed the challenge of getting the lighting right. Most displays are lit from the top, allowing a lovely contrast with the background. I hope I achieved it here!

These little paintings are truly the high point of my day!
