Wallpaper
What is the difference between peel and stick, pre-pasted, and non-pasted wallpaper?
We offer four substrate options for most wallpaper designs, each suited to a different installation method and use case.
- Peel and Stick — self-adhesive backing, fully repositionable, ideal for smooth surfaces and damage-free installations. Best for renters or temporary applications.
- Pre-Pasted — water-activated adhesive built into the backing. Wet, hang, and trim. A good middle ground for DIY installations that are meant to stay.
- Non-Pasted Traditional Paper — PVC-free, GREENGUARD Gold certified, requires separate wallpaper paste. The preferred choice for permanent residential installations and designer-specified projects.
- Commercial Vinyl — Type II rated, Class A fire rated, scrub resistant. Required for hospitality, healthcare, and institutional spaces. Suitable for LEED-certified projects.
If you are unsure which substrate is right for your project, contact us and we are happy to advise based on your space and installation conditions.
How do I put up wallpaper without paste?
There are two ways to hang wallpaper without paste: peel and stick, and pre-pasted.
Peel and Stick wallpaper has a self-adhesive backing — peel off the liner and press it to the wall. No water, no paste, no mess. It is fully repositionable and removes cleanly from smooth, properly primed surfaces. Best for renters, temporary installations, or anyone who wants a quick, damage-free application.
Pre-Pasted wallpaper has a water-activated adhesive already built into the backing. Wet the back of each panel with a roller or spray bottle, let it book for a few minutes, and hang. No separate paste is needed. It is a good middle ground for DIY installations intended to stay put longer than peel and stick.
Both substrates are available for most Pine + Feather Studio designs. If you are unsure which is right for your project, contact us and we are happy to advise.
How do I calculate how many rolls I need?
Measure the total width of the walls you are papering in linear feet, then divide by the width of one roll (shown on each product page). Add 15-20% for pattern matching and trimming waste. For rooms with large windows or doors, measure the full wall height and width as if the openings were not there — it is easier to over-order than to match dye lots later.
For commercial projects and large installations, we recommend requesting a project quote through our Custom Work page so we can calculate yardage and substrate requirements precisely.
Is your wallpaper removable?
Our Peel and Stick substrate is fully repositionable and removes cleanly from smooth, properly primed surfaces without damaging the wall. Pre-pasted wallpaper is also removable with water and a scoring tool, though removal is more involved than peel and stick. Non-pasted traditional paper and Commercial Vinyl are intended as permanent installations.
Is your wallpaper suitable for commercial spaces?
Yes. Our Commercial Vinyl substrate is Type II rated and carries a Class A fire rating, making it code-compliant for hospitality, healthcare, restaurants, and institutional installations. It is scrub resistant and engineered for high-traffic environments. We have supplied wallpaper for museum installations, hotel projects, and boutique hospitality spaces.
For commercial project inquiries, contact us through the Custom Work page with your project scope and timeline.
What does GREENGUARD Gold certification mean?
GREENGUARD Gold certification means the product has been independently tested and certified for low chemical emissions, meeting the stringent standards required for sensitive environments including schools, healthcare facilities, and spaces where children spend time. Our Non-Pasted Traditional Paper substrate carries GREENGUARD Gold certification. It is also PVC-free and produced with water-based inks. Learn more about GREENGUARD Certification at UL.com.
What is a Type II fire rating?
Type II is a commercial-grade durability classification for wallcoverings defined by the Wallcovering Association. Type II wallcovering meets higher standards for abrasion resistance, tear strength, and durability than residential-grade (Type I) products. A Class A fire rating means the wallcovering has been tested to the highest standard for flame spread and smoke development — it does not mean the material will not burn, but that it performs at the top of its class compared to similar materials. Our Commercial Vinyl substrate carries both ratings.
Do you offer samples or swatches?
Yes. Wallpaper swatches are available for most designs and are listed as a size option on each product page. We strongly recommend ordering a swatch before committing to a full installation — colorways can vary between screens and printed output, and seeing the pattern at scale in your actual lighting conditions makes a meaningful difference.
Where is your wallpaper made?
All Pine + Feather Studio wallpaper is digitally printed in the USA using water-based inks on substrates sourced from certified mills. Our Commercial Vinyl and Non-Pasted Traditional Paper substrates meet the performance and certification standards required for professional installation specifications.

Yes, and this work is especially meaningful to us. We have designed and produced interpretive wallpaper installations for museum environments, including historically grounded narrative work for veterans and military history institutions. Ordering
Can I return or exchange wallpaper?
Because our wallpaper is printed to order just for you, we are unable to accept returns. We strongly recommend ordering a swatch before purchasing full rolls to confirm colorway, scale, and substrate. If there is a production defect or error on our part, we will make it right — contact us with photos and your order number and we will work with you to resolve it promptly.
How long does production take?
Most orders ship within 5 to 7 business days of order placement. Custom and commercial orders have variable timelines depending on project scope — we will provide a production schedule as part of your project quote.
