Frequently Asked Questions

We offer four materials for most wallpaper designs, each suited to a different installation and use.

• PVC-Free Type II — a commercial-grade, vinyl-alternative wallcovering. Type II, Class A fire rated. Paste applied at install. For permanent residential and commercial installations, and the material we carry in the designer sample book.
• Commercial Vinyl — Type II, Class A fire rated, scrub resistant. Paste applied at install. For hospitality, healthcare, and high-traffic institutional spaces.
• Pre-Pasted — water-activated adhesive built into the backing. Wet, book, hang, and trim. Type I, Class A fire rated. Fully removable. A good middle ground for DIY installations meant to stay.
• Peel & Stick — self-adhesive backing, repositionable while you work, removable within a year. Type I. For renters, accent walls, and short-term installations on smooth surfaces.

All four are printed to order in the USA with GREENGUARD Gold certified inks. Every product page has a side-by-side materials comparison. If you are still unsure, contact us and we are happy to advise based on your space.

There are two ways to hang wallpaper without paste: Peel & Stick, and Pre-Pasted.

Peel & Stick has a self-adhesive backing. Peel off the liner and press it to the wall. No water, no paste, no mess. It is repositionable while you work and removes cleanly within a year from smooth, properly prepared surfaces. Best for renters, temporary installations, or anyone who wants a quick, damage-free application.

Pre-Pasted has a water-activated adhesive already built into the backing. Wet the back of each panel with a roller or spray bottle, let it book for three to five minutes, and hang. No separate paste is needed. It is fully removable, and a good middle ground for DIY installations intended to stay put longer than Peel & Stick.

Both are available for most Pine + Feather Studio designs. If you are unsure which is right for your project, contact us and we are happy to advise.

The easiest way is the calculator on every product page (and on our Wallpaper Calculator). Enter wall height and width and it returns a roll count for both roll lengths, with the cheaper option marked.

By hand: measure the total width of the walls you are papering in linear feet, divide by the width of one roll (24 inches installed), and add 15 to 20 percent for pattern matching and trimming waste. For rooms with large windows or doors, measure the full wall height and width as if the openings were not there. It is easier to over-order than to match a later print run.

Peel & Stick is fully removable within a year of installation from smooth, properly prepared surfaces. It can still be removed after that, but the wall may need touching up. Pre-Pasted is fully removable with water and a scoring tool, though removal is more involved than Peel & Stick. PVC-Free Type II and Commercial Vinyl are intended as permanent installations.

Yes. Two of our four materials are commercial grade. PVC-Free Type II and Commercial Vinyl are both Type II wallcoverings with a Class A fire rating, which is what hospitality, healthcare, restaurant, and institutional specifications typically call for. Commercial Vinyl is the scrub-resistant choice for the highest-traffic spaces; PVC-Free Type II offers comparable durability without PVC and qualifies for LEED credits. Fire certificates and spec sheets are available for submittals.

GREENGUARD Gold certification means a product has been independently tested and certified for low chemical emissions, meeting the standards required for sensitive environments including schools, healthcare facilities, and spaces where children spend time. All Pine + Feather Studio wallpaper is printed with GREENGUARD Gold certified inks, on all four materials. The certification applies to the inks. Three of our four materials are also PVC-free (Commercial Vinyl is the exception). Learn more about GREENGUARD certification at UL.com.

Type II is a commercial-grade durability classification for wallcoverings defined by the Wallcovering Association. Type II wallcovering meets higher standards for abrasion resistance, tear strength, and durability than Type I (residential-grade) products. Our PVC-Free Type II and Commercial Vinyl are Type II; Pre-Pasted and Peel & Stick are Type I.

A Class A fire rating means the wallcovering has been tested to the highest standard for flame spread and smoke development. It does not mean the material will not burn, but that it performs at the top of its class. PVC-Free Type II, Commercial Vinyl, and Pre-Pasted carry a Class A rating. Peel & Stick does not have a published fire rating on its technical sheet.

Yes. Every pattern is available as a 24 × 12 inch swatch, printed to order on the same material as the full roll. Swatches are $9 to $12 depending on material and ship free. Select Swatch as the size on any product page, or browse the swatch collection. Order a swatch and we'll follow up by email with a $20 credit toward your first roll order of $200 or more.

We strongly recommend a swatch before committing to full rolls. Colorways vary between screens and printed output, and seeing the pattern at scale in your own light makes a real difference.

All Pine + Feather Studio wallpaper is digitally printed and milled in the USA using water-based latex inks. Our PVC-Free Type II and Commercial Vinyl materials meet the performance and certification standards required for professional installation specifications, and Pre-Pasted and Peel & Stick are printed on FSC-certified paper.

Our sheet sets are made from 100% Italian cotton sateen with a 280 thread count and a satin weave construction, giving them a smooth hand and a subtle sheen. Our duvet covers and pillow shams are also made from 100% Italian cotton sateen. Our  pillow covers are made from a 55% cotton, 45% linen canvas with an oxford weave construction.

No. Duvet covers are sold as covers only. Comforter insert not included. Each cover features interior corner ties and a hidden zipper closure.

Twin and Twin XL sheet sets include one pillowcase, one flat sheet, and one fitted sheet. Full, Queen, King, and California King sets include two pillowcases, one flat sheet, and one fitted sheet. All fitted sheets fit mattresses up to 15 inches deep.

Yes. All Pine + Feather Studio soft goods are digitally printed in the USA with water-based inks and sewn in the USA. Sheet set and duvet cover fabric is woven in Italy. Pillow sham fabric is woven in Italy. Lumbar pillow cover fabric is woven in China.

Yes. Custom illustrated wallpaper design is a core part of what we do at Pine + Feather Studio. We work with interior designers, hospitality firms, museums, and cultural institutions to create story-driven, site-specific designs. Because our wallpaper is printed to order just for you, we are unable to accept returns. We strongly recommend ordering a swatch before purchasing full rolls to confirm colorway, scale, and substrate. If there is a production defect or error on our part, we will make it right — contact us with photos and your order number and we will work with you to resolve it promptly.

Most orders ship within 5 to 7 business days of order placement. Custom and commercial orders have variable timelines depending on project scope — we will provide a production schedule as part of your project quote.
