Three steps. The first one pays for itself.

  • Step 1: Swatch

    24 x 12 inches on the same paper as the roll. Tape it to the wall and live with it for a week. If you're renting, start with peel & stick: the swatch doubles as your paint test.

    The calculator tells you how many. Most accent walls take two rolls. Your $20 credit comes off orders of two rolls or more, and it's good for a month.

    Both materials are DIY, no installer. Peel & stick goes up the day it arrives, on paint that has cured 30 days. Pre-pasted needs the wall primed first, so plan that part ahead.

I drew every pattern in this shop, and I read every email. If you're stuck between two colorways, or you're not sure your paint will take peel & stick, send me a photo of the wall in daylight and one after dark, and tell me how you want the room to feel. I'll tell you which two to swatch, and I'll be honest with you if I think it's the wrong wall for it.

I don't think a home has to be owned to feel yours, to feel finished. One wall with with a pattern nobody else on your street has, changes how your home feels to walk into. You don't have to live in millenial gray design purgatory just because you signed a lease.

The part you're a little bit worried about

Will it come off?

Yes. Both of these are designed to come off, easily and without damage to your wall. Paint an accent wall and you'll have to paint it back before you leave, matching the code, two coats, a lost weekend. This comes off in an afternoon.

  • Peel & Stick

    Start at a top corner and peel slowly at a low angle, adding a bit of heat if needed to soften the adhesive. Our manufacturer rates it fully removable within a year; after that it still comes off, but the adhesive has had longer to bond and the wall may need a tiny bit of touch-up.

  • Pre-Pasted

    Rated for short- or long-term use with no limit to when you can remove it. Costs les per roll compared to peel & stick. Simply spritz the surface with warm water, wait a few minutes, peel from a corner, and wipe the wall.

How long does my 'removable' wallpaper stay removable?

  • About a year: Peel & Stick Wallpaper

    No water, no paste, no primer needed for install. Peel & stick is rated for short-term use, up to a year, and fully removable inside that year. However it needs eggshell, satin or semi-gloss paint underneath, cured for at least 30 days before covering.

  • Longer: Pre-Pasted Wallpaper

    Rated for short-term or long-term use, with no removal window. Comes off with warm water. Needs a primed wall first.

Neither one is paint, and both are designed to come off. Peel and stick needs walls painted at least thirty days earlier, and it needs the right kind of paint, which is the next section.

The rooms and walls that trip people up

  • Textured walls

    Both materials are specified for smooth, flat walls. Orange peel or knockdown texture needs a liner or skim coat first. If your walls have texture, order a swatch and press it on. You'll know in a day.

  • Bathrooms

    Powder room with no shower: yes, either material. Full bath with a shower or tub: peel & stick is specified as not suitable for high-moisture rooms, and for a wall that gets steam and cleaning we'd point you at a commercial-grade paper rather than either of these materials.

  • Kitchens

    Away from the stove and sink, both work. The backsplash zone gets splashed and scrubbed; leave it painted or try a removable peel-and-stick tile treatment.

Questions renters ask

Do I get the $20 credit if I order a swatch set?

Yes. Any swatch order earns it. We email the code the day your swatches ship, and it comes off orders of two rolls or more within a month.

Does peel and stick wallpaper damage walls?

Not on paint that has cured for at least 30 days. Peel slowly from a top corner at a low angle and it comes off clean. On fresh paint or a poorly primed wall, any adhesive can lift the finish, which is why we say wait 30 days.

Is wallpaper renter friendly?

Yes, if you choose the right material. Peel and stick and pre-pasted both come off without damaging the wall. Most leases allow removable wallpaper; if yours is unclear, ask, and send the install guide with the question.

Will peel and stick work on textured walls?

Not reliably. It is designed for smooth, flat walls, and on orange peel the adhesive only touches the high points. If your rental has texture, order a $9 swatch and press it on before you commit to rolls.

Can I put wallpaper in a rental bathroom?

In a powder room with no shower, yes, with either material. In a full bathroom with a shower or tub, no. Steam gets under both peel and stick and pre-pasted and can cause it to peel. That wall needs a commercial-grade paper.

How do I remove it when I move out?

Peel and stick: start at a top corner and peel slowly at a low angle. Pre-pasted: wet the surface with warm water, wait a few minutes, peel from a corner, then wipe the wall. Both install guides walk through it step by step.

How much do I need for one wall?

Rolls are 2 ft x 12 ft high. Use our wallpaper calculator with your wall's width and height and it will tell you the exact count with a 10% buffer.

How long does peel and stick wallpaper last?

Our manufacturer rates it for short-term use, up to about a year, and it is fully removable within that year. It does not stop working at twelve months. The adhesive keeps bonding, so past a year it still comes off, but the wall may need touching up afterward. We suggest applying a bit of heat from a heat gun or blow dryer to soften the adhesive.

Pre-pasted is rated for short-term or long-term use with no removal window, and costs $34 less per roll.

Is pre-pasted wallpaper removable?

Yes. Our pre-pasted is what's called a "strippable" paper. Simply wet the surface with warm water, let it soak in for a few minutes, and peel slowly from a corner. That makes it a great choice for a long-term rental.
